Patience.

Patience reigns supreme when embarking on a move of this magnitude. This entire process has been fraught with delays. I accepted my teaching position in mid January of this year and have been working towards moving day ever since. For six months I gathered and organized essential documents, securing a new passport, FBI background check, health certificates, and countless details inbetween.

Late in the month of June, a meticulously compiled package containing my paperwork made its way to the Spanish Consulate in order to process my visa. And yet on August 8th, the day after my original flights were scheduled, I received my work visa.

Patience.

Today is the long-awaited getaway day. The car was packed at 10:16. We were on our way at 10:21. At 10:22 I received a text from our airline. Our flight is delayed by almost two and a half hours.

Patience.

So now I sit and type in the living room. The bags have been packed for two weeks now. I have been wearing the same 3 shirts and 2 pairs of shorts that whole time. I feel like I have been teetering on the edge of my departure for eternity. I wonder, in the grand scheme of things… what’s a few more hours?

Patience.

Patience has emerged as a steadfast companion, guiding me through the labyrinthine twists of bureaucracy and the capricious nature of timing. As I sit here embracing the these final hours of waiting, I am reminded that every tick of the clock brings me closer to the horizon of new experiences.
